Summer is coming to an end and the new school year has begun, which means a fresh start and new interests! Your child may be excited to start a new activity this school year, and it’s the perfect chance to help them dive into it.

Did you know that getting your kids involved with art, music, or sports can help their emotional and physical health? It also gives your child a chance to hang out with peers, make new friends, and learn new skills.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month! This is your reminder to get your child up-to-date with vaccines.

Fact Check: Childhood immunizations are estimated to save 4 million lives worldwide every year. Diseases can be life threatening. That’s why it’s highly recommended to get vaccinated at an early age to help protect against short term infections and long term complications such as pneumonia, ear infections, and meningitis. 

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all children get the following vaccinations before their second birthday.

An estimated 7 million (11.4%) of U.S. children ages 3-17 years have been diagnosed with Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). 

If your child is diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed medication, you should schedule a follow-up visit with your child’s provider. We recommend that you schedule this follow-up visit within 30 days of receiving and starting their medication or any time you have concerns.

Their provider can help you manage your child’s treatment plan, make sure the plan is working, and even change it if your child has new symptoms or side effects. You will work together to support your child’s needs.

We partner with Medical Transport Management (MTM) to give our members no-cost rides to a doctor’s appointment, a dental visit and/or the pharmacy. 

Did you know that members, or their friends and family, can also be reimbursed for mileage when driving to a Medicaid-covered appointment? The driver needs to be approved by MTM and Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) before the ride in order to be reimbursed. This process will take approximately three weeks, so be sure to plan ahead!

In an effort to always do better for our members, every year we make updates to our Healthy Rewards Program. 

Starting September 1, 2025, there will be updates to existing rewards as well as new benefits and rewards. If you still need to claim your rewards this year, please make sure to do so by August 31, 2025.

Are you an expecting mom covered by CHIP-Perinate (CHIP-P)? You will need to select a health plan and Primary Care Physician (PCP) for your baby after birth.

*Please Note: This only applies to newborns of mothers covered by CHIP-Perinate. If you are a pregnant mom covered by Medicaid, your baby is automatically enrolled in your chosen plan after delivery. No actions need to be taken to do so.
